Directions: Our centre is located away from the heart of St Leonards, towards Chatswood. We are approximately 30 minutes drive from the Hills District (via the M2), Northern Beaches, and Eastern Suburbs of Sydney; 15-20 minutes from the Upper North Shore; a short drive from the Lower North Shore; Please see the map.
Making an appointment at Quickstepz is a simple procedure. You do not need a referral from a doctor/paediatrician, however, you may be recommended to see us for an evaluation/treatment by your child's paediatrician, speech therapist, special educator or teacher.
Our office is open from 8am to 5pm Mondays to Fridays. Please don't hesitate to leave a message if we can't answer the phone and we will get back to you as soon as possible. We will then talk to you in more detail about your concerns for your child. You will also be sent one of our information packs which includes information about the centre and our approach, a map of how to find us, a parent questionnaire and an outline of the fees.
It is recommended that you fill in the questionnaire and return it with any other information you would like to share with us that would help in the assessment of your child (such as reports from your child’s paediatrician, psychologist, speech pathologist or school) at least one to two weeks prior to your child’s evaluation.
You will be given a date and time for an occupational therapy evaluation which takes approximately 2 hours, unless otherwise discussed with the therapist. The therapist will advise you if they feel your child would benefit from therapy intervention. Typically, children come on a once weekly basis for one hour, however we do have children coming 2 to 3 times per week and out of town clients may come every day for a 1 or 2 week treatment intensive. You would be encouraged to attend sessions with your child and carry out some home based activities. Parents are seen as an integral part of our therapy.
Therapy is typically fun for most kids. You will notice that our centre is full of suspended swings, ropes, cushions, inner tubes and other 'wobbly' equipment. Play is the main medium of therapy and it is a powerful tool when working with your child.
If you would like further information about fees please contact the office. Our services are covered by private health insurance. A Medicare rebate is also available if your child is eligible for a care plan. Details of this Medicare rebate can be discussed with your General Practitioner or your child’s therapist.
